I've been working until I can't move anymore. The scroll was 35 feet, now it's 51'8". I hope it reaches to just under 51 though because I believe when it wraps around the rods it will be a little less. There's still some work to be done but it's almost complete! Hooray!

I just made up a simple design and dad made the finials with his trusty lathe. Even though they could have been bigger the material available just wasn't big enough. It's fine though, plus with the weight of the fabric and paper we're still not sure what will be happening at display time.
The trouble with gluing the paper to the fabric is mostly the goddamn fabric. I am using brown cotton and simple old Elmer's Glue. It's a process of ironing the material out, pinning it down, gluing a foot or so, pressing it and such. It's crazy and annoying. I sweat a good deal so that's a good thing. I've got limited space as well so that helps all the more. My living room is a mess and there's a couch missing. Luckily I live with understanding, accomodating parents.
