It was another full house at the Gallery for the opening last night. There were some new faces along with the usual suspects so I was quite thrilled to meet some of them. Call me or email me to stay in touch! Thanks again for all of the support from Erik and Meg and all our guests.
Sorry guys for all the bad photos - it's hard doing double duty as photographer and schmoozer. I'll have to get some alone time with the show actually, then I'll take some more photos.
I got one piece sold out of three, which, really isn't that bad. Incidentally didn't even get photos of mine really. Oops!
I'm rushing around to get all my stuff sorted out before I leave! I'll be heading home on Tuesday so there remains a wonderful array of things to do.

Buy my kidney or some art?
It really pisses me off when someone talks about things they don't know about, moreso, about me to me. I don't enjoy being told (hah "suggested") that I am living my life in the wrong way. Everyone has their own process - deal with it. I love the good intentions, I really appreciate the basic thoughts, and some do come in awesomely handy sometimes, so I am not hating on my lovies who avidly support me.
Needless to say marketing is stuck somewhere in my bag of tricks, and I am forced to tell people what to do. I am very much aware of my imperfections and strive daily to not be depressed about how much I am not doing. I would love nothing more than to be settled, to have a fancy website, to appear wonderful and perfect and a rockstar artist. I am not. I would also love to have 10000 hours in the day.
As much as I've thought about it, I love my other kidney, I'm frightfully protective of it and apparently it will not get me much cash anyway. Back to square one.
"Yes but.. can't you... do this? and this? It's super easy. I did it!"
"You know you can make money doing.."
"Why don't you get a job? I know people who do both! ..."
This life is scary one. It is a painful and time-consuming and like child-rearing, except the whiny tantrums are all your own. However, the freedom to work naked is priceless, as is turning your phone off when people annoy you.
When someone who knows nothing about me but flings ass-nuggets in my face rather than actually reading, just a little, I get wildly raving. I am sure it's completely unsexy. Obviously not good for my exponentially growing lesbo reputation (according to Erik). Let me check. Hum, nope, still hetero. But seriously, I'm actually quite certain by exploring my blog, my social network, and talking to me you'll pretty much get a sense of who I am. And still then you will not know me. Heck I'm still getting to know me!
So in an effort to be more engaging with my public, here are some things you might not know about me that some random secret government agency may one day use against me in a large clusterfuck of events that I don't actually care about.
- I like bunnies but I do endorse their consumption, but I don't really eat meat very often.
- I'm only semi vegetarian because I am OCD about germs and hate cooking meat and having it in my house. I would eat out or cook at someone else's if I'm really that desperate.
- I really like sushi and chocolate, but possibly not together. (Please bribe me with either).
Want some in your face marketing?
Please buy my work (else I will be a sad tantrummy mess and will want to chop my ear off).
Stay tuned for the next episode of Studio Chan adventures. See how I can be your love slave for life. (I'm kidding would-be stalkers). I'm sorry this post has no pretty pictures. I'm a moody snooty artist. Deal.

You Cannot Imprison a Fountain
Again Vernon @globewriter is awesome and he uploaded some 2 year old interviews from Peter Minshall. Epic. Please take the time to view them - it's totally worth it. Take a break from your mini series brain rot.
Minsh is a brilliant one-man performance, a genius of thought. You can't watch this when you're not ready because you will hear incoherent babble. For all his wonderful drama (I absolutely adore it), it is astounding thinking that transcends the Carnival and pulls us in and hits home. Minsh has always been about the people, the now, our attitudes, and what consummate bullshit we're doing.
Pt 1 of interview with Peter Minshall - Mas designer and Carnival from globewriter on Vimeo.
Pt 2 of interview with Peter Minshall - Mas designer and Carnival from globewriter on Vimeo.
He also speaks about NAPA in the second part, which is quite relevant to our national artist issues. I've embedded the document compiled by the Artists Coalition of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT) and written by Rubadiri Victor. Have a read so you can understand what's really happening in our society, and how Trinidad is dealing with the Arts.
I wonder what NAPA has going on right now?

Tuney Tuesday
Because I'm badly influenced by my musical friends, and because I need some bit of newness, some bit of inspiration (that word is such a cliché!) I'm all out of sorts because I miss working on my own work right now. It's quite upsetting and I feel all kinds of mixed sometimes horrid emotions. Anyway here's an interesting selection that makes me feel much better.
Last night I stayed up listening to the Morning Benders on Blogotheque. I quite like this group of these wonderfully maigre emo boys. Blogotheque is amazing - their Concerts à Emporter (Take Away Shows) are so sumptuous I could cry.
My second choice comes to you from a Norwegian Fjord. So gorgeous is this little Alain Johannes Endless Eyes video and what a lovely song too.
Want some new stuff from The Decemberists? Check it! Download Down By The Water!
Of course Nic also has a major part to play in this Meric Long (The Dodos) track, Fiends.
I really should have been a musician - perhaps in another life. At least I know good stuff right?
