Just to get your curiosity going - these are some shots of the work I will be showing at WOMA Home & Away this year. Of course they are blurry and abstractions of the final pieces. In the midst of organising the event and curating the show, I have been preparing my work in parts. I am actually done quite early and on to doing more WOMA work.
I've been in Grenada since Saturday, and I've already been on the television and the radio, with one more television appearance on Friday to promote the show. Whew! I am sleeping, reading and enjoying the lovely Sahara dust haze that's enveloped the islands.

Stop Street Harassment

Image by Tracey Chan, Tag by Stephanie Leitch (please use with credits!)

Activist and author of Stop Street Harassment: Making Public Places Safe and Welcoming for Women, Holly Kearl, co-curated an exhibition at MOCA DC in Washington DC to mark the start of International Anti-Street Harassment Week (March 18-24). I started a project with social activist and conceptual artist, Stephanie Leitch to create a visual to go with her tags about street harassment.
Although it was short notice I re-edited one of my pieces from last year's WomenSpeak project and did one piece for the collaboration with Stephanie. Thanks to Holly for allowing us the opportunity to show, and putting up a feature on the work!

WOMA & Caribbean Beat

Nervous Chatter 1, Tracey Chan, mixed media on paper, 2011
What a great start to the month! Anyone flying on Caribbean Airlines this month can pick up a copy of its in-flight magazine, Caribbean Beat. You will find the article available online:  Painting the real picture - Grenadian women in Art but it's the 20th Anniversary edition too! WOMA as been mentioned, so we're excited. Again our thanks go out to David Katz for doing the article and Caribbean Beat for getting it out one year later. Incidentally, we are excited about this year's show, Home and Away which will open on March 31st in Grenada.

Caribbean Beat Issue 114 - March/April
It's also interesting that we're sharing an issue with Anya since we're all amazing women in the same age bracket, doing some amazing things. We can all hope to be as famous as her one day right?

Chromophilia at BAG

My friend and collaborator Jeff Hendrickson and I have a spot in this Brooklyn Artists Gym exhibition that starts TODAY, March 3rd and goes until March 19th. If you're in the NY area, and can attend, we'd really appreciate it! You can find out more here. Jeff will be at the opening so please say hello! I cannot be there but I hope I can see a lot of nice photos.
Triptych 1, Jeff Hendrickson & Tracey Chan, generative art, 2012

This piece I've shown you is an exclusive peek at the upcoming collection and isn't in the show but at least you will get an idea of what we are doing. This work has developed from a series of generative art projects that have been produced solely online and digitally. Our process has been done through e-mail, shared documents and Skype. It's a unique and wonderful experience thus far.
Jeff and I met on Twitter maybe couple of years ago and one day decided we should work together on something. Jeff is a textile and pattern designer, and I bring the colour and digital art together. For those who have not known me for long, I've actually pottered about digital work but it's not my main area. Generative art is new to me, but something I've been fascinated with for a long time. Working with Jeff has allowed me the opportunity to explore with him and open up a whole new area. This was a great opportunity to do something different! We're continuing to work together on something else for this year, perhaps in another form. It's all very exciting. We'll launch the rest of the work from this series soon and hope to share some of our processes with you.
