As her work evolves, Tracey is inspired by collaborative projects in cross-disciplinary practices and especially those that fuse art and technology. She enjoys being involved in local and global art and community projects.
She has exhibited in Grenada in multiple group shows, four of which she co-curated and co-produced. Her work has been shown in two international group exhibitions in the UK and US.
Tracey’s former corporate life was in media and advertising, but is now focused on freelance graphic design, fine art, and art event management. She currently lives and works in Trinidad & Tobago.
About the Work
I seek higher knowledge of myself in order to understand this world; why and how I feel and behave, and how to improve my experience in it. I deal with questions of place, time, and human emotions. I relish raw truths and utopian ideals - seeking perfection while accepting imperfection.
Truly perfect moments of life tend to be the most overlooked. This is the essence of Wabi-sabi - beauty in the ordinary and unseen. You will find me looking out the window at things I have seen a million times. There is always something new if you really look.
I do not reproduce what I see, but merely what I feel. I also tell my own stories that may not to reveal themselves on first glance. Seeing is a major part of my creative process, but I also read and listen to conversations and stories.
The human body is also a storyteller - its gestures and movements are fragments of tales that reveal life. I have found humans to be the same everywhere, so my figures are generic, faceless and sometimes headless. Their identities are meaningless while the feeling is universal.
My lines are life - they are sensual, organic, dynamic and often whimsical. Writing is an intrinsic part of my work because I’ve always had very close connection to books. There is no differentiation between words and lines – after all words are elaborate lines. I feel absolute freedom when I draw or paint line and let it go where it wants to go. That is a perfect moment.
